Sounds Atypical Music Grant Scheme

The Sounds Atypical Music Grant scheme is a Belfast City Council funded opportunity for d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent musicians to create accessible music events in performance spaces across Belfast.

The fund is split into three grant tiers as follows:

  • 2 grants worth £5000 each
  • 2 grants worth £3000 each
  • 2 grants worth £2000 each

Applications opened on Monday 18 November 2024.

This award is made possible thanks to support from Belfast City Council.

Key Information and Dates

Application opens: Monday 18 November 2024

Application closes: Friday 17 January 2025 at 4:00 pm

Announcement of successful applications: Friday 7 February 2025

Events happen: between March and December 2025

Events must be completed by: Friday 12 December 2025

Evaluation and reports submitted: 8 weeks after event completion

Advice Sessions

You can book a one-to-one advice session with a trained advisor.

You can book your advice session in several ways:

Please let us know if you have any access requirements. We can arrange support to help you take part in the advice session (for example, a British or Irish Sign Language interpreter).

To meet requests for reasonable adjustments we have put in place advisors to support d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists through the application process. Advisors can help you with the application form and to understand the criteria. They can help you check your proposed budget. They cannot advise you on whether or how likely your application is to be successful. They also cannot help you to develop your project idea. Examples of support are proofreading the application, or ensuring all aspects of application are eligible.
