Volunteering

Volunteers are an integral part of the University of Atypical team. They provide a warm welcome to everyone, and ensure that audience members come away with a fabulous experience.

We have a variety of activities you can get involved in during the year, including the annual Bounce Arts Festival, Atypical Gallery events, and Ledger Studio events.

As a disabled-led organisation, we welcome volunteers who are d/Deaf, disabled, or neurodivergent, and those from diverse backgrounds. We are interested in working with you whether you are introverted or extroverted, if you know a lot or very little about the arts, or if you have specific skills or just want to learn.

We believe that volunteering is a two-way process. Volunteers should benefit from volunteering, as well as giving their time, energy and skills. We try our best to make your role interesting. We offer varied roles based on your availability, what interests you, and the skills and abilities you have.

  Our volunteer roles are ideal for anyone who:

  • Is over 18;
  • Is interested in the arts;
  • Wants to know what goes on behind the scenes at events;
  • Is keen to develop their front of house skills;
  • Enjoys interacting with people;
  • Loves working as part of a team.
