Atypical Gallery
Our gallery hosts exhibitions and events that support the work of d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists based in Northern Ireland. The programme runs throughout the year, and showcases work of artists working in diverse media, themes and styles.
The Atypical Gallery takes part in the monthly Late Night Art Belfast event on the first Thursday of every month.
You can find information about accessibility in the Atypical Gallery on our accessibility page. We also have a Social Story that tells you what to expect when you visit the Atypical Gallery. You can download the Social Story by tapping the image below.

Charys Wilson – Half Light
The work is inspired in part by the practice of forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku: a Japanese tradition of spending quiet, mindful time among trees. Research shows that this kind of intentional time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, and even boost the immune system.
For many of us this kind of immersive experience can feel out of reach, especially during the colder months or in urban environments. This installation is a way to bring some of those benefits indoors: a moment of calm, light, and quiet connection.
