Our Trustees

Our Board of Trustees brings together a diverse skill set and experience from public and private sectors, supporting the team in the promotion of our work.


Adam Bradley

Adam is the manager of an inclusion programme at Catalyst, and has a background as a musician and working in the arts. He brings his experience of programme management, fundraising and governance, and his passion for social impact and the cultural sector. Adam identifies as queer and neurodivergent.

Aisling Doherty

Aisling brings a wealth of experience dealing with mental health engagement and experience to the Board, as well as creative experience as a drama teacher.

Ashia Rashid

Ashia has extensive safeguarding knowledge and experience from her specialist nursing background.

Christina Herdman

As a working graphic designer and artist, Christina brings an experienced artist perspective to the Board, along with marketing and publishing knowledge. 

Ciara Smyth

Ciara Smyth (Vice Chair) has experience Human Resources Management and adherence to policy.

Gwen Kennedy

Gwen has been involved professionally and personally with a number of Disability organisations and LGBT+ organisations including the meetings of the build up to the launch of LGBT.ie

Hanna Slattne

Hanna Slattne brings expertise in artistic processes and artists development programmes from her role as a dramaturg.

Isolde O’Brolcháin Carmody

Isolde brings years of experience as an artist and activist to the board

Mave Dempster O’Neill

Mave has over 30 years experience working in Arts & Culture, with an extensive background in Box Office, Event & Financial Management and brings these skills to the board.

Miriam Doherty

Miriam worked in the community and voluntary sector for 25 years in the areas of disability, employment and training. She now works for the health service to promote patient engagement. She has a passion for equality and creating opportunities to develop innovative ways of improving the lives of all. She feels very privileged to be part of University of Atypical.

Nicki Heptonstall

Nicki  is an IT specialist and with her music, combines creativity and technology in her approach. 

Peter Fleming

Peter is a composer and has over 30 years experience in running businesses in the music industry and has worked with international stars such Dolly Parton, Tom Wait, Brian Wilson (from the Beach Boys) etc. Peter has a proven track record of delivering results through his music business ventures.

Tania Carlisle

Tania has experience dealing with large institutions and networking as a Corporate Engagement Manager.
